Be Relevant in Your Life's Domains
You probably struggle with a problem that is difficult for most people---how to stay relevant in the domains of life that are important to you-that is, being out there, while still maintaining some sort of balance in your life.
The key to being effective in all your life's domains is to be very strategic. That is, to be selective in what you do in each domain. In that way, you can help yourself fulfill your objectives in all domains, by doing what's important to you. A related key-make sure you don't let the "urgent" overwhelm the "important" in your life. Commit to yourself, in writing, the actions you will take, by when, to address your most important priorities. Then make sure you keep your promise to yourself by taking those actions. Another way of saying this: choose a few things that really matter to you and get rid of as much else as you can. In that way, you can give yourself the opportunity to fulfill your objectives in all domains. You will still make some mistakes, such as realizing that event you just attended was not relevant to you. But that's the price we all sometimes must pay when we give ourselves permission to be out there, to participate.
