Just do it!
Have you ever told someone you would do something for them and then at the last minute, not do it? What about being on the receiving end of that equation? Have you ever counted on anyone to do what they said they would do, and they didn't?
Well, that happened to me today. I asked someone to do something over a month ago. They agreed. Today, with the due date looming, they are too busy. <INSERT SCRAMBLE HERE>. Are my expectations unrealistic? I've been in business long enough to know that projects very rarely are delivered on the date they are promised. I've seen business plans with financial gain estimates that were so inflated you could toss an entire planet through it. I've called customer service departments and been stuck in the automated message vortex. But, untarnished, I still unwaveringly count on people to do what they say they are going to do. Separate yourself... As we kick off the importance of Networking on Women's Ally this month, consider the following before you ‘take back' your commitment:
...just do what you say you are going to do. As I started my scramble earlier today, I wasn't angry. I knew that I would find a way to recover. However, I was sad. I continue to expect more from people.
