Appraising Performance – It’s Critical to Do It Well

Recently I had an interaction with a colleague with whom I’ve been working for several months. I realized from a comment that he made that he really didn’t have a clue of the breadth of my skills and what I could offer the group project on which we were working. I felt underestimated and unseen. This is an intelligent and fairly perceptive man so I was astounded and troubled by his assessment. Since I’m serving on this project as a volunteer, I considered quitting it... that’s how upset I was.
